July 30th, 1988: Hello world, a new baby is born in a hospital in Larnaca, a beautiful beach-city in Cyprus. I had an amazing childhood in Larnaca . I had the freedom to go out and explore the beaches and nearby forest near the town with my friends; it was an amazing childhood. We all went to the same school and lived within 5 minutes of each other. This meant a few things:

- We could all meet every day at our the local park in between all of our houses yard to hang out, ride bicycles and climb trees. We did that almost every day. There were no iPads, but joy was everywhere.

- We built treehouse with no supervision, climbing trees with hammers and nails in our pockets, we made our own fireworks out of match heads and sparklers, it really is quite impressive that no one ever got badly hurt.

- While most western children played with video games and watch TV, we explored unfinished building sites, hunted snakes and

- Cyprus has anational conscription service which mostly means guard duty for many of the countries young men.
